The brief
To create an immersive, interactive application to guide users through the complex, interconnecting themes of the exhibition and showcase multimedia content including video interviews and installation photography.
The interface was to be created without the use of Flash and all content to be accessible and repurposable, through semantic markup.
My role
As Website Technical Manager at Tate I was responsible for the delivery of the application and I took a hands-on role in production:
- Developed the overall concept alongside the Exhibitions Editor
- Worked with a Visual Designer to create a look and feel in keeping with the exhibition design
- Defined the interaction paradigm and flows
- Conducted guerilla testing throughout the project in order to evolve the interface
- Development of JavaScript library functions including dynamically embedding video, parsing HTML and colour animation.
