Tate Kids is Tate’s online portal for children aged 5 and upwards, filled with games, short films and inspiration to get creative, including My Gallery; a space for children to showcase their own artworks and save favourites from other Tate Kids users and a carefully selected range from the Tate Collection.

My role

It was essential that the online registration process needed to be simple and enough for children to create their own account while ensuring their safety and privacy. As Technical manager for Tate Online, I was responsible for usability as well maintaining technical standards. I undertook the interaction design for My Gallery, and design and development tasks for other areas of Tate Kids:

  • I created flows and wireframes to map out a child-friendly registration process for My Gallery
  • Worked Tate Kids Editor to address legal and safety issues
  • WordPress development for Tate Kids blog
  • Visual design for bespoke functional elements
